Product Review: Ponds Flawless White BB Cream

ponds flawless white bb

Hi Everyone!

I was given a sample of Pond’s Flawless White BB Cream some time ago and I thought I’d give it a quick review. I used to use Pond’s products a lot when I was younger (it’s the first facial wash I’ve ever used) but as I got older, for some reason I stopped using products from the brand. So I was curious to see how I would like this product. Read on to see how my experience was!

What does it do: “Pond’s Flawless White Whitening Expert BB+ Cream SPF 30 PA++ is make-up and skincare in one. It has SPF 30++ PA to protect skin from harmful UV rays and instantly conceals dark spots while continuously whitening from within giving you a flawless natural look”

How much: PHP 299 for 25g

Instructions: “After cleansing & day cream application, apply 7 dots of bb+ cream all over your face and neck.
Massage gently in an upward motion to blend evenly onto skin”

Amount: 25g full size

This BB cream definitely has a very thick creamy consistency. It’s not your regular tinted moisturizer for sure. While I was impressed by the feel of the product, the scent was another story. This product is quite heavily fragranced. Personally, I’m not bothered by heavy scents, but I definitely think those sensitive to strong smells won’t like this very much. The smell itself isn’t bad, its a floral scent that smells great on its own. However, on a product for the face – it somehow makes me think the product might be too harsh and/or contains a lot of non-natural ingredients.

For coverage, I’d say that this is a light to medium coverage BB cream. It wore very well during the day and lasts long. I didn’t get oily or cakey either. Though upon application my face looked white, the color gradually adjusted and matched my skin pretty well (I had the light shade).

The biggest downside to my experience was that I started breaking out after about 3 days of using this. I switched back to my old foundation until the breakout cleared up, then I started using this again. This cycle happened around two more times; on the third try I used a very very tiny amount of product. It worked, and I stopped breaking out. This leads me to think that perhaps the some of the ingredients are a little too harsh for my skin and need to be used minimally.

Rating:
Packaging – 5/5
Price – 5/5
Effect – 3.5/5
Smell – 3/5
Overall – 4.1/5

Verdict: I do like this product in terms of coverage and the overall effect on my skin. However, I’m not very happy with the ingredients used. And while I found a way to make it work, I still avoid using it everyday.

Will I repurchase? Unfortunately, I think I need to pass on this one.
