Beauty Favorites 2013

Hello Everyone!

With Chinese New Year approaching, it’s now that I truly feel the end of the year…. so it’s not too late for me to post about some of my favorite beauty products from last year! [/end lame excuse]

Hahaha. Anyway, the following are products I may not have used everyday, though some of them I might have (used everyday), but these were products I definitely noticed I was always reaching for during the course of last year.

For reference, the products in the pictures will be mentioned from left to right.

1. ELF Eyebrow Kit in Light
Excuse the grossness of the picture, I’ve hit some serious pan on my eyebrow kit here and it’s really messy now. I love how this gives your brows a polished look without looking too made up. It’s really easy to apply and the kit comes with a brush that I actually use. I’ve already bought my back up!
2. Watsons Deep Cleansing Nose Strips
I just keep raving about this nose strips. They really do the job! Full review here.

3. Jovan Black Musk Perfume
This has been my go to scent all year! I remember the guy who sold this to me told me it was an evening scent, but I’ve been wearing it a lot during the day as well. Its definitely a musky, sort of spicy scent but it’s very feminine. I get a lot of compliments when I wear this.
4. The Body Shop Almond Body Butter
This is my absolute favorite body butter EVER from Body Shop. It breaks my heart to know that it was only limited edition. The consistency is not too thick, yet not too thin. It blends into the skin wonderfully. And it smells like freaking almonds. I love it. I hope they bring it back.. I swear I’ll hoard more next time.
5. Garnier Pure Active Anti-Imperfection Roll On
I got this product with my BDJ box last May (I think). At first, I’ll have to admit I was pretty skeptical about the whole “roll on” thing helping with my blemishes. But after using it more more than half a year, I’ve definitely seen some improvement in my pimple problems. Whenever I have a pimple, or I see one developing, I just apply this for a few days and… ta-da! Problem solved. 😀

6. Wet n’ Wild Color Icon Trio Eye Shadow
Although I’ve seen Wet N’Wild for a while, I never gave it ago until I saw Emily from Beauty Broadcast (blog) (youtube) raving about their eye shadows. She said they were inexpensive, had good pigmentation, great texture and  – and they do! I have Walking on Eggshells and Knock on Wood. These are my favorite eye shadows now and I plan to buy more colors soon!
7. Human Nature Mineral Blushes
I like Human Nature because they don’t use harmful chemicals in their products. Yet, they still provide good quality stuff. Their blushes don’t come in a very wide range of colors, but I like how they provide a subtle flush to the skin. Nothing over the top or glamorous, but still pretty. Great for everyday looks.
8. NYX Slim Lip Liner in Bloom
Nyx is a great inexpensive brand with some really good quality products. I find that their lip liners are really great! The color comes out quite opaque and it glides on easily. The packaging is also convenient as it comes with the color of the liner at the tip (I find that the color is a match to what the liner color really is).
9. Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner pencil in Brown
This is my all time favorite pencil eyeliner. It stays on my lid and on my waterline, despite my oily (ew) eyelid. It may smudge a bit, but it doesn’t make me look like I have raccoon eyes, in fact the smudging is hardly detectable.
10. Maybelline Long Extreme Stiletto Mascara
This is my favorite mascara. It has quite a dry formula, which I like, and gives me volume without the clumping. It lengthens my lashes just enough to still look natural.
11. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Cherish
This is a great everyday pink color. I have to say that the stain effect is pretty serious. Even if I eat and drink, it doesn’t come off! Sometimes, even at the end of the day I can still see traces of the color on my lips even if I haven’t reapplied.
12. Naturals by Watsons Lip Balm in Pomegranate
Again, I’ve raved about this a lot. It’s my favorite lip balm. Full review here.
13. Maybelline Hyper Curl Volume Express mascara
I also got this product in my BDJ box last May. This one has a great waterproof formula. I’ve cried in this, as in full on waterworks and IT DIDN’T BUDGE. I’ve also been sick, throwing up and sweating and crying and it didn’t budge. I’ve washed my eyes because of an itch during the day and it didn’t budge. It’s amazing.

Wow, thirteen favorites for 2013! Funny how I only noticed that little detail now. This year I hope to be able to expand and try more new products. Fingers crossed I find some new favorites!

Does anyone have suggestions on what I should try? What are your favorites?
